FRANCES BROWNE

STAGE TBD

Frances Browne is the sum of Spokane natives Brett Hite (formerly of platinum record-selling FRENSHIP) and Caroline Schibel (formerly of Spokane heartthrobs Mon Chéri).

For Hite’s previous band FRENSHIP, it was a turbulent run that took them past a billion streams and a decade of making music. In 2024, the pop duo called it quits, leaving its members staring off onto their own respective blank canvases. “I’m proud of what has been, and even more excited for what’s to come,” Hite says. In addition to his artist projects, Hite has penned songs for Shaboozey, Lauv, Natasha Bedingfield, and many others.

After an eight-year break from music to focus on raising her kids, Caroline’s longtime friend Dan Spalding reached out about a cover band he was starting (not Frances Browne), which is where she initially met Hite. "For eight years, I had accepted that music didn’t fit my life anymore—it took Dan reaching out to make me realize how wildly untrue that was. So I said ‘fuck it,’ and I’m diving back in with what feels like more fire and freedom than I’ve ever had before," Schibel says.

Frances Browne’s debut album is targeted for release in early 2026 and was recorded in Spokane and Los Angeles. It features highly sought-after guitarist Harrison Whitford (Phoebe Bridgers, Role Model) and drummer Remy Morrett (Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine) on all 9 songs of the album. Engineering and mixing were done by Andy Park (Death Cab for Cutie, Noah Gunderson, Macklemore) in Seattle.

The concept for the project came as an experiment in creating a fictional story for an album. It follows the journey of the two lead characters, Indiana Anna and Muscle Car Mike, as they mature from high school sweethearts to regret-filled adults. All the while trying to work out whether love is the enemy of their dreams or the whole point of dreaming.

Frances Browne has drawn early comparisons to those of Role Model, The Civil Wars, Fleetwood Mac, and Bon Iver.
